REV. MOIRA'S MISSION TRIP TO AZ/MEXICO BORDER 10/12-19
Rev. Moira and group followed a typical path an undocumented person might travel to the
border of US.  The terrain as difficult and treacherous.  Also there is hightened US presence
cartels that control the border.  In Cochese County alone over 317 lives have been lost
trying to get through the desert to the US.  Rev. Moira attended a Prayer Vigil which has
been held weekly for 18 years.  White crosses were held to commemorate those people
that died trying to get to the US.
The border wall on the US side in Douglas, AZ has a striking image:  a 20 foot steel wall
covered with 3/4 inch razor wire.  Time was spent in a migrant center assisting people
seeking asylum to the US.  We played games with the children.  The journey to the border
for migrants may take six months to a few years with much abuse to the them along the way.

          PEACEMAKING SUNDAY AT CPC
For the past twenty-five years CPC has sponsored a Peacemaking essay contest for students
in the Bellmore-Merrick CHSD.  This year two high school winners were chosen:  Ekaterina
Fakinos from John F. Kennedy High School and Brianna McDonough from Calhoun High School.
We were so pleased to honor both of these two young peacemakers!
Great fun was had by all during the Children's Sermon given by MaryJane Gould, one of our
excellent Sunday School teachers at CPC!  The children answered riddles such as, "How did
the piano get out of jail?" (used it's keys--haha).  At the end, the children recited the words
of John 3:16 in answer to a question by MaryJane.  A wonderful experience for everyone!
In the Pulpit this Sunday was Joseph Finck.  He is a licensed Lay Eucharistic Minister in the
Episcopal Church and it was a great pleasure to have him with us!
Please note the picture of our two terrific Sunday School teachers, Lily Nelson and MaryJane
Gould.  We are so fortunate to have them teaching here at CPC!
Included are some of the Holy Humor Sunday special booklet enclosed with our bulletin for
you to chuckle and enjoy!

Day while Jo Gencorelli played
a beautiful Mother's Day Tribute

compose the music, but she also

A lovely coffee hour followed
featuring a delicious Mother's
Day cake!

Pastor Ralph Wright tells the Sunday School children about
how Monks shaped simple flour and water dough into praying
hands for food used especially during Lent since food choices
were limited.
